ticks all the boxes March 1, 2010 manic_w I ordered this and it arrived on the next working day without specifying expedited delivery. after reading other reviews I was a little concerned that it might arrive damaged but was in perfect condition i have to assume that those with problems are more likely to leave feedback! it was ridiculously easy to set up and digital reception good. did have to turn down brightness and contrast though as it gave me a headache the first night of viewing, both are set at 50% have been using since 2jan 10 and no probs i'm really pleased with it and for the price i think its excellent value. hubby thinks the picture when watchin rugby is good and i had no probs when watchin winter olympics, good for movies too. remote and menus are intuitive in fact have never read manual! & i'm no teccy. we saw it working in shop before buying from amazon so we thought better than comparative samsung and same as toshiba.anothing thing we have the enery saving mode turned on and our 'OWL' consumption meter shows it using around 1.7p and hour to run
No Motion Blur on Sport February 22, 2010 Mr. D. M. Feldwick After returning two LCD 40 2 TVs , due to motion blur on sport especially football , golf ,etc ,anything with grass on the screen , I was about to give up. I then discovered this set which is by far the best of about 30 - 40 different models considered.
Very happy with picture .
Also with screen burn which people had warned me against with the plasma , it has a tool to remove it ,which doesnt seem to be in the product review.
I had a small Sky news logo imprinted 4 days in and just put tv into option mode scroll down to ISM method used colour wash and bingo disapeared.
Also the 3 modes Cinema , Sport ,Game are all adjustable , and I find myself using Game setting for Sport , ironically sport on the sport setting is the worst picture!
Good easy remote control(some are so rubbish its not real -Bush , mentioning no names.)
Would definitely reccomend after a lot of the rubbish ive seen this should cost more money .A Great Buy.
K T ROBERTSON February 2, 2010 Mr. K. T. Robertson (SHETLAND ISLES SCOTLAND) I was amaised at the speed the TV took to arive. I ordered it on the 30th december and it arrived on the 4th january to the shetland isles. I have always been happy with the delivery service of amazon.
Some of my freinds advise me not to buy LG as they all have either samsung or panasonic. So what i decided on was to go on which magazine and took the advice from there on what TV they recommended. So far i have been very happy with my purches of the LG. Picture quality and sound quality is 1st class and as good if not better than the samsungs and panasonics i have watched.
Worth every penny! January 26, 2010 YF (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this Tele couple of months back and Amazon delivered it on time. Full marks for Amazon.
I thought of taking time and give a proper review for the tele rather writing poetry about it the very next day I received it.
Packing:
LG should have considered better packing that the standard. The courier guy asked me to help him getting the tele into the house and when I looked into the van, the box was standing without any support. Easy for the screen to be smashed during delivery.
Setup:
Its quiet easy to setup (up and running in 5 mins). I got the tele on a TV stand; wall bracket setup may take longer times.
Menus
The menus on the tele are very easy to use and the in built freeview works well. Scanned 74 DTV and 20 radio programs with in 3 mins.
Inputs:
The TV has got 3 HDMI ports, 1 RGB, AV in, Antenna port and USB port. So you need not keep changing the input cables like I had to do on my old Samsung.
Picture Quality:
The picture quality is simply superb. Used a quality HDMI cable to connect my Xbox to the TV. Quality on the standard AV cable is ok, so recommend buying a HDMI cable.
Sound Quality:
The sound quality is good, though not exceptionally great. The present sound settings give good effect and there is scope for customising these settings.
Image retention:
Traditionally, this has been a problem with all plasma TVs and this TV is no exception. If there is a still image (pause a DVD etc) stays for longer, the tele goes into energy saving mode until the signal is back. It's easy to notice the image retained on the blank screen. But you need not worry about this; it should be ok when the image changes and motion picture is on. This doesn't harm the picture clarity.
Final Verdict:
This TV is very good for the price, if anything its better than the expensive ones.
LG Plasma TV January 21, 2010 N. Guthrie (London England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent TV,I'm very happy with this purchase. I done plenty of research before I bought it. The main reason I went for this model was price/size and capability's. I love the 42inch size,it comes with a usb port which is ideal for plugging a usb key and watching a movie direct from the TV. It was the only flat screen TV that I saw that the screen is completely flat, with no inner edges. As for the price it's the cheapest for the size and capability's and none of the high St shops can match Amazon for price. 1 negative point, when I received the TV from Amazon, the screen was damaged, make sure you check the TV as soon as you get it. They sent another new TV within a few days and this one was ok.
