I was looking for a top quality tv that was as near HD quality on standard definition as possible and this LG comes about as close as you can get. I was feedup with reviews that only seemed to focus on Blue Ray and HD pictures when 90 % of our tv viewing is on standard tv.
The picture quality on standard definition is just unbelievable. Very natural while being sharp and very clear.It's hard to believe that you are not watching HD! I have seen very clear pictures on other high end tv's before but they are often to false. This picture on this LG is so clear and crisp while being very easy on the eye. It's worth every penny of the one grand + you pay. It's easy to set up and use, and a bonus is the sound can be set for different levels of 'clear speech' which for me is a great feature as I struggle to hear some of the mumble spoken with the realistic background noise on modern films.
As you can imagine, HD is very, very good but it is no disappointment when you switch back to every day tv.
